Paul Huizenga Travels with Mom

Travels With Mom
Mothers are such a blessing. Their Love is beyond any comprehension a child may have. I cannot speak for all mothers, but my Mother Frances is special in so many ways. When I was in my early twenties I began to wonder how can anyone repay and show gratitude for the countless acts of love a mother bestows on her child. An investment that sometimes never gets recognized.
One day a I had the wildest idea. I approached my mother Frances and suggested making a trip together. I told her I would take Her anywhere in this world she wanted to go. Her reaction was immediate. She said “I have always wanted to see the national parks.” We decided Yosemite National Park would be our destination, and began making plans. As a young man seeing my Mom pursuing wanderlust in Yosemite Valley on our first day was magical. It just seemed like El Capitan was smiling down on me, just maybe, the Lord to. Our greatest gift is the ability to encourage others, and place a little joy in the hearts of the ones we Love the most.
Frances was running a large company at the time, and finding that time was a challenge. I thought our first trip would be great experience, I never imagined it would become the catalyst for a catalog of adventure ranging from the West Coast, Alaska, Canada, British Virgin Islands, and New Zealand. Most recently we took a trip to Crystal River Florida where we explored the majestic natural springs on a kayak. I have been a few places, and seen some amazing things, but nothing compares to the site of my Mother playing like a child.
The point of this message is that Mothers are precious and deserve to be appreciated. They do not need international escapades, they just want your precious time, and to know they are appreciated. They will never ask for You to make the effort, but would be delighted if you would. Simple acts are huge, like a call, a card or a date night. Be creative and make it a point to express your appreciation for the countless acts she has done, never asking anything in return.
